In a wardroom at night during a port call, a junior officer writing logs complains, “This sucks! My first foreign port call and I’m stuck on the ship writing logs while everyone else is out partying in town! When I joined the Coast Guard, I thought I was signing up for an epic odyssey, not constant duty.” The officer beside him says, “Oh, it’s an odyssey alright,” as a Coastie with a radio rushes in: “Ma’am? The deckies just killed a bunch of sacred cows and incurred the wrath of Zeus.”

I’m not sure it actually took Odysseus ten years to get back home, because I know that’s about how long any patrol feels
