A civilian tells a Coastie, “I know the Coast Guard might not get paid because of the shutdown, but don’t worry, you’ll get backpay!” He says, “Oh, I didn’t realize it worked like that.” He then walks out of a store with an armful of items, telling the cashier, “Don’t worry, you’ll get backpay!”; leaves a restaurant without paying with the same line; and speeds away from “Coast National Bank” in a pickup full of money bags, calling it to the police (“SCREEEEEE”).
