Are we just going to keep working without pay?” An officer with a clipboard says, “Don’t worry, this won’t go on forever... there’s no way they’d let us just not get a paycheck. Right, Chief?” The Chief stares blankly into the distance, surrounded by faded memories of past shutdowns: cans of beans, a credit report, a yard sale, and a Coastie holding a “Will Guard Coast For Food” sign. “...Chief?”
