Founding Date

Oct 13, 2024 — Comic #320
A Navy officer says, “Today’s the Navy’s birthday! We were founded October 13th, 1775! When was the Coast Guard created? Like 1915?” A Coastie replies, “The Coast Guard was founded in 1716,” tracing its roots to Boston Light, America’s first lighthouse, which was fought over in the Revolution. The officer objects, “You can’t claim a date before our country even existed as your founding date just because someone was doing the same job!” The Coastie answers, “You do it.”

Happy 52nd anniversary of the first time the Navy claimed its birthday was October 13th, 1775!
