In a TV interview under the chyron “Coast Guard Rescues Fishermen,” a reporter asks, “How did you keep yourself going when you were out on that rescue?” The Coastie says, “Well, the Coast Guard’s motto is ‘Valar Morghulis.’” “Don’t you mean ‘Semper Paratus’? Doesn’t that mean ‘All men die?’” She shrugs: “It works here, too.”
