Sacrifice

Jan 23, 2019 — Comic #203
During a storm, a Coast Guard boat crew rescues two people from a sinking boat. One says, “Oh thank God! We didn’t think anyone was coming, since you’re not getting paid!” A Coastie replies, “Don’t be ridiculous! We’re the Coast Guard! We’d never let someone else suffer just because we weren’t getting our way. Even if it meant going broke... Even if it meant sacrificing our own–” A wave sweeps him away. The final panel shows the rescued pair in the boat beside his floating cap and life jacket.

If you were in trouble, the Coast Guard would show up in the dead of night, in a storm to end all storms, knowing they would probably die, just to save you and your family. Please - if you’re not impacted by the shutdown, donate a few dollars to Coast Guard Mutual Assistance. Organizations like this are the only source of relief our brothers and sisters in arms have right now. They’re working for free at the moment, for you.
